Some big time celebrities helped promote a new botanical garden at a state of the art high school in Hollywood. Palestra.net’s Deidre Behar and Raj Nair talk about being eco-friendly with Amy Smart and Nicole Richie.
Amy Smart has been tapped to star on an untitled medical drama executive produced by John Wells (“ER,” “The West Wing”) for CBS.
Smart will play a tough nurse on the show, which revolves around a mobile medical team that travels the U.S. helping those in need get through life-and-death medical crises.

Pauley Perrette: Hi, I’m Pauley Perrette, and my green tip of the day is: I love to plant trees. And you don’t have to go with a big thing to do it. Just plant one in your yard. It’s fun. And the other thing is to grow your own vegetables. There’s nothing better than growing your vegetables in your yard, pulling them up and eating them. It’s the best.
Amy Smart: Hi, I’m Amy Smart, and my green tip of the day is using reusable bags.

ABC has announced their programming for the 2009 – 2010 TV season and although they picked up 10 new series, Amy’s pilot for “See Cate Run” did not make the list!
If any more information comes out about the pilot possibly hitting the airwaves, I’ll be sure to post it here!
This week, the Environmental Media Association’s Young Hollywood Board is putting on the gloves and digging deep in support of organic gardening in Los Angeles-area schools. Celebs on the Board, including Nicole Richie, Lance Bass, Rosario Dawson, members of Maroon 5, Amy Smart, Matthew Rhys, Emily VanCamp and Emmanuelle Chriqui, will each adopt an area school, help with the planting, and check in with their gardens during the school year, explains People.
The project is the product of a newly-formed partnership between the EMA and the Los Angeles Unified School District’s School Gardens program, and personal care brand Yes To Inc. The launch event is scheduled for tomorrow morning at Hollywood’s Helen Bernstein High School, and the program will take root over the next several months.
Just how much dirt Richie et al will actually get under their fingernails remains to be seen, but Bass for one is pretty stoked: “Organic gardens are so important, especially in urban areas where many students would otherwise never see any greenery. I hope that the support will help them to grow and flourish in Los Angeles.”

Amy has been cast in a new television show called “See Cate Run”…
Amy Smart could be the future president of the United States — provided her pilot gets picked up.
Smart (“Smith,” “Just Friends”) has taken the lead role in ABC’s pilot “See Cate Run,” about a woman who may be destined to lead the country. A pair of FOX pilots — the comedy “Two Dollar Beer” and a drama about “past-life investigators” — have also added to their casts, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“See Cate Run,” formerly titled “I, Claudia,” is about a woman (Smart) who will one day be a serious presidential contender. In the present, though, she’s a young prosecutor, and the nation’s highest office is nowhere on her radar.
Smart’s last TV series was CBS’ “Smith,” which lasted only a handful of episodes in fall 2006. She starred in a CBS pilot called “The Meant to Be’s” last year; her recent movie credits include “Mirrors” and “Crank 2: High Voltage,” which will hit theaters in April.
