Now that Amy Smart is engaged, she’s busy making wedding plans and is already thinking of babies, she tells RumorFix exclusively.
Smart, who co-hosted Pregnancy Awareness Month kickoff gala presented by O.N.E. Coconut Water recently, said, “We absolutely want to have kids. I would say definitely at least two.”
The Varsity Blues star says she was caught completely off guard when hunky TV carpenter Carter Oosterhouse proposed to her on April 17.
“He completely surprised me,” she tells us. “He actually asked my parents for permission first, so they already knew he was going to propose. He got down on one knee and was so romantic. ”
Amy is happy to show off her sparkler, which is a two-and-a half carat cushion cut diamond with Pave diamonds. “I have not taken the ring off since its been put on. It pretty much lives on my finger!” she says.
The blonde beauty reveals their relationship started as a friendship because they both were in long-term relationships. “We reconnected this past fall and now we are getting married!” Amy tells us the wedding may take place this fall. And while she doesn’t want a maid of honor because she has so many girlfriends, she says she may have one of her dogs walk down the aisle with her.
As for her honeymoon: she says, “A safari in Africa would be pretty amazing.”

The Shameless actress, 35, broke the news to OK! that she and Million Dollar Rooms executive producer Carter Oosterhouse, 34, got engaged on Sunday during The Body Shop Three-Minute Shower Challenge held today at Columbia University in NYC.
“I just got engaged on Sunday,” she tells me, showing off her huge sparkler. “I’m so happy. It was so beautiful, romantic and I was completely surprised. I’m just really happy and enjoying this time.”
How did he propose?
“That’s personal, but it was very touching, very loving.”
Just in time for Earth Day, she tells me they met while doing environmental work through the Environmental Media Association.
While she admits they’re not yet sure about wedding details, she is certain Carter is “The One.”
“I think he’s an incredible man on so many levels,” Amy says. “He’s so kind, so respectful, loving … he’s got so many qualities that I can’t wait to spend my life with.”
And they may start a family in short order.
“I would love to have children. That’s definitely something I want.”
With such a smart name like Smart, will she change her name to Oosterhouse?
“I would for personal reasons, but not for my professional name,” she says. “I mean, I got teased my whole childhood, but now I feel the need to live up to it. I like my last name!”
Amy was previously engaged to longtime boyfriend actor Branden Williams.

Amy Smart has found her own handy man: The actress is dating HGTV star Carter Oosterhouse, a source confirms PEOPLE.
The pair, both 34, were spotted stealing kisses together and looking cozy over the weekend at an Art of Elysium event in L.A.
“They have lots of common interests,” says another source. “It’s still pretty new, but they seem to be having a blast together.”
Smart, known for turns in The Butterfly Effect and Varsity Blues, previously dated actor Branden Williams for more than a decade, according to reports. Carter stars on the home improvement show Carter Can.
